Army Commendation Medal -
The ARCOM is awarded to any member
of the Armed Forces of the United States who, while serving in any capacity with
the Army after 6 December 1941, distinguishes himself or herself by heroism,
meritorious achievement or meritorious service. I received two ARCOM's during my
military service, one for my performance as Headquarters Company Commander in
base camp waiting to go on thirty days leave between tours in Vietnam, and a
second while working as Assistant G-3 for the Directorate of Plans and Training
with the 101st Airborne Division (Airmobile) at Ft. Campbell Kentucky after
returning from Vietnam. Both my ARCOM's were for meritorious service.
